Skipton walking holiday 2021
Many SCR members attended the self organised walking holiday in Skipton recently, during the last week of May.
For many it was their first holiday of the year and for a number, including myself, it was their first break since 2019.
The event was well organised with the walks programme published in advance, offering members a choice of 3 walks per day.
The Covid restrictions in place within the hotel and other venues seemed to be in the background and did not take away the feeling of a big move back to normality.
With all members attending being fully vaccinated and many taking the lateral flow testing car sharing to the start of walks was the norm. It was great to enjoy the company and share in banter once again during the journey.
The walks themselves were varied and all enjoyed in what is often describe as Gods own country.
Spirits were high as the holiday progressed and naturally tinged with a little sadness as we prepared to depart on the last day.
Many expressed a desire to return to Skipton and if it is possible to organise I’m sure it will prove to be even more popular next year.
So a big thanks to Phil for planning and organising the holiday and also thanks to Chris for handling the payments and all volunteering walk leaders.
And finally good wishes to those who are organising smaller group or individual walking holidays through 2021.
